The Hanover & District Hospital is strongly committed to creating and maintaining a workplace of choice where staff are recognized and valued. One of Hanover & District Hospital’s strategic goals is “to provide a healthy and safe workplace that reflects our values and encourages staff involvement and open communication”. To help accomplish this, we provide many great activities and initiatives;

Health and Wellness Committee

The Health and Wellness Committee is made up of staff representatives who are constantly generating activities for positive staff morale and provide the staff, physicians and volunteers with a great place to work.

Employee Assistance Program

Quality Health care Workplace Award LogoThe Employee Assistance Program is confidential and voluntary support services that can help employees face a variety of life’s challenges. All employees and their immediate family members can receive support over the telephone, in person, online and through a variety of self-guided services.

Physical Fitness Incentive Program

A Physical Fitness Incentive Policy is maintained to encourage healthy lifestyles outside the workplace. This policy subsidizes activities (to a maximum per year) such as gym memberships, exercise videos and exercise equipment. The program has been well received and has encouraged staff to become active and increase their physical activity.

Above and Beyond Recognition

A quarterly celebration to recognize staff for above and beyond contributions. Employees are given an opportunity to nominate someone they feel demonstrates exemplary service in their daily work, provides notable contribution to their department or the hospital, contributes to high staff morale, demonstrates creativity and innovation, exhibits professional growth, exemplifies teamwork, contributes to a health and safe work environment, has a positive attitude toward work responsibilities, co-workers, physicians, volunteers and patients, serves as a role model who is consistently dependable, punctual and actively participates in hospital initiatives.

Achieving Excellence

A partnership was developed in 2013 with StuderGroup® to help hardwire excellence within our organization. This relationship will provide our management team with ongoing coaching support and leadership development opportunities.
“Brain Train”: An annual training event held for all staff to stay current and up to date on training and ensure compliance with necessary governing bodies of legislation.

Interest Free Education Loans

HDH believes in investing in its most important resource; its employees. We provide interest free loans for those interested in pursuing their health care career.

Years of Service Awards

Staff is recognized for their long service contributions in 5 year increments.

Hospital Fit Trail and Fitness Area

The Staff have free access to a 1.5 km fit trail with fitness stations to use as well as two v-max machines.
