Hanover & District Hospital Improves Patient Navigation with Registration Department Move and New Wayfinding

December 10, 2025

Hanover and District Hospital is taking significant steps to improve patient experience and navigation by implementing two separate projects that will launch together on December 18, 2025:

1. Registration Department Relocation

The Registration Department will move to the Main Entrance, making it easier for patients and visitors to access services. From this date forward, all patients and visitors—except those visiting the Emergency Department—are encouraged to enter through the Main Entrance.

2. Wayfinding Project

At the same time, the hospital will introduce a new colour-and-shape wayfinding system designed to simplify navigation throughout the hospital. This system will help patients and visitors find their destinations quickly and confidently.

“The relocation of our Registration Department and our Wayfinding Project are important steps in advancing a modern environment at Hanover & District Hospital,” said Dana Howes, President and CEO. “These projects are rooted in accessibility, inclusivity and community input, and will help patients and visitors navigate the hospital confidently.”

Both initiatives were made possible through the support of our Patient and Family Advisory Committee and the generous funding provided by the HDH Auxiliary. Volunteers will be available during and after the transition to assist patients and visitors.
